Sailfish News Vol. 14

Hi Sailfish Family, Thank you all for your support of our high school swimmers. Girls fought hard, keeping 2nd place! Boys came in 5th. Overall Bearcats finished 4th in ranking combined girls and boys. It was a busy weekend with IASAS and Manila Japanese School Invitational. Attached are the results of the MJS invitational. You may also visit the Blog for more results of our meets. 

TRAINING SCHEDULE: We are back to our normal Squads 5-8 training schedule as follows
Squad 5 and 6  Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 

Squad 7   Tuesdays, Wednesday Morning 6:40-8am, Thursdays and Fridays 

Squad 8   Mondays – Thursdays ( for second semester Mondays will be gym training. Double session on a Wednesday, morning at 6:40-8am and afternoon gym training until 4:30pm ) 

If you have signed up for Bangkok Splash meet, you have the option to train everyday. 
Whats coming up:

  • Next week our MS swimmers are off for CWW – there will be no MS Sailfish training for the week of February 11-15th.
  • February 18th Time trials sign up here. form will close February 14th. 
  • February 20-21 ES PTC Early release at 12pm. NO Sailfish training for ES.

Hi Team, 
Attached are the results from yesterdays time trials. Thank you to all parents who volunteered and help time. As always, we will not be able to run our trials without your support.

Whats coming up?

  • Manila Japanese Invitational February 2, 2019 please sign up here. Entry deadline will be on  Wednesday January 23, 2019. No late entries will be accepted. 
  • IASAS – We are in need of more beds. If you can house swimmers for IASAS please email Coach Chapman. Currently we require 2 beds for a pair of female swimmers and  14 beds for male swimmers. In total we require 16 more beds! 
  • Bangkok Splash Meet 9th & 10th March 2019  

The Splash Meet at International School Bangkok is fast approaching! This is a fantastic and well run meet. The group we took last year had a great time. Saturday’s events are in the 25m pool and Sunday will be held in 50m, which is new for many of our sailfish swimmers. We will travel on Friday, compete all day Saturday and Sunday morning and arrive back in Manila Sunday evening.Swimmers in Grade 7 and above may travel unaccompanied, all those below must be accompanied by parents but own travel and accommodation can be arranged.

Unaccompanied Package = $703– Best Western Hotel for 2 nights– Philippine Airlines Flight (PR730/ PR737)– Bus transfers– Buffet dinner Friday and SaturdayIf interested please email coach Chapman.

For ES Swimmers who have signed up for Bangkok, we are opening all ES training sessions. You may now train Mondays – Fridays to prepare for Bangkok Splash Meet.

MS/HS swimmers, this option will be available after IASAS.

Hello Team!
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful break. We are all looking forward in hosting IASAS swimming at the end of January.
We are in need of more beds. This is open to all families. Please see message from Mark Pekin
Update- IASAS SWIMMING HOUSING – We are in need of 120 beds for IASAS Swimming January 30- February 3.

Please sign up to house swimmers to support what will be a fantastic 3 day IASAS swim meet. Currently we require 3 beds for female swimmers and  12 beds for male swimmers. In total we require 15 more beds! Please sign  up to support this event asap.
Whats coming up? 
  • Squads 5,6,7,8 MS/HS that is not Varsity, Goal Setting will be on Friday January 11th at Lofthouse C 3:15pm. Coach Chapman will be running this activity. We will see you all there.
  • Time trials Wednesday January 16th. Entry list attached. If you have not signed up, you may still sign up here. form will close on Friday January 11th.

IASAS swim meet host beds needed

Update- IASAS SWIMMING HOUSING – We are in need of 120 beds for IASAS Swimming January 30- February 3. If you will be able to help us house swimmers from other schools please see more information here.  Housing update- Currently we have 62 beds and require 58 more! Swimming families please sign  up to support this event asap. We need support from all our varsity swim families and our wider Sailfish community as we only have 3 and a half weeks until teams arrive.

This is our last week of training for the semester. Thursday December 13th we will have an open pool party and there will be pizza! yay!! See you all!

Hi Team,

We would like to thank those who came and raced last Saturday for our Leg 1 Aquathon. We were able to raise P31,500 for Child Hope and other Sailfish activities. Thank you to Vita Coco for sending drinks for our participants. Results can be found here .

ISM SWIMATHON – moved to December 7 Friday.  Details here .

Job well done to our Sailfish swimmers for doing the Bonifacio Cup. results have been posted. Please check back on the post last week.

FALL MEET – Please make sure you sign up for the fall meet. Here are the list of swimmers who have already signed up  list for fall meet. If you have signed up twice, its okay we will take the most current one. Also, if you would like to change your events, you may sign up again.  Form will close on Friday November 2, 2018.

Aquathon :

ISM Aquathon I – Sat 24th November 2018

Presenting the first leg of two ISM Aquathons (Run – Swim – Run). For those new to this great event, we are raising money for our designated ChildHope charity and Sailfish activities.

As always we are timing this event, however, the main aim of the day will be to have fun and encourage all participants in something a little different. It is a great way to get active and involved with your kids, siblings and students.

Please note if you are nervous about either running or swimming, team up with a runner or swimmer and join the relay category in Race 4.

Open to all ISM Student/Faculty/Staff/Parent Community along with BSM , MJS, AIS, Brent, NAIS and other schools

RACE 1 – 8:00am Start

  • 13/14 yrs  15-18yrs Adult
  • Run 1km – Swim 400m (16 lengths) – Run 1.9km

RACE 2 – 8:30am Start

  • 9/10yrs and 11/12yrs
  • Run 800m – Swim 300m (12 lengths) – Run 1.6km

RACE 3 – 9:15am Start

  • Under 8yrs
  • Run 600m – Swim 200m (8 Lengths) – Run 1km

RACE 4 – 9:45am Start

  • Relay – 2 or 3 people and Individual
  • Run 1km – Swim 800m (32 Lengths) –  Run 2.2km

Awards Ceremony – 11:00am

Entry Fee – 300 pesos per race on race day check in.
